I need to get back to working in my studio. On a regularly scheduled basis. Its so easy to let life get in the way and put off art projects that I have been dreaming about. Even though I really shouldn’t let my talent go to waste. So, this leads me to one of my big resolutions for 2012: I am going to create a mosaic a week, posting photos as I work to document the progress. This should do several things:
1. I will have a set “schedule” and deadline for my projects. While training for my first marathon this year, I realized just how much a schedule can help accomplish goals. Working with a training plan, I had to find a way to fit in a run into my schedule every day, even though the longer runs could take hours. For 2012, I am also going to use this concept to work on my art.
2. By posting my progress and completed mosaic work on my blog, it fill you in on my progress and hold me accountable for completing my work each week. (And yes, you have full permission to send me harrassing messages if I don’t appear to be staying on task!) I’m hoping that by posting my works while in progress, it will also be an informative way to learn more about some of the techniques that I use and how I work.
3. I should have at least 52 completed works by the end of the year (who knows I might be ambitious and have more than that) to display in an art show, sell or auction off, and use in my portfolio.
Its win-win. My goal is to use what I already have, so I am going to set a small budget per piece ($5.20?) and beyond that I have to use what I already have in my studio, and/or materials that are donated or found.
I will be starting my Mosaic-A-Week project the first week of January 2012, so stay tuned….

What a goal! I can’t wait to see the results!
